Have you ever wondered how hard it is to battle your demons from your past? Rev Fletcher has to do it on a daily basis.
Fletcher is a high school senior, who has adopted parents because of his tragic past with his abusive father. He meets Emma Blue, a junior that goes to the same school as him and they first meet behind a church in their neighborhood; it was a very unusual first encounter. Emma and Rev started to get to know each other immediately and Rev showed Emma a letter that his abusive father sent after years of no contact. Although they never met before Rev felt a connection to spill all of his trauma and story immediately.
To add context, Rev was raised by his father until he was 10 years old, as he was placed in foster care and then adopted by a couple who are now his loving parents. Rev was placed into foster care because his father has been brutally abusing him since he was born and the last incident that occurred was when Rev’s father brutally stabbed him and the police had to get involved.
On the other hand, Emma took on her father’s passion of coding and she spends hours creating her own game which causes her mom to get infuriated with her. Her mom wants Emma to go outside more and interact with her friends. Emma is going through a tough time right now with her parents constantly fighting. Her only escape is walking her dog outside.
Rev and Emma met when Emma`s dog ran away from her and toward the back of the church which was where Rev was sitting on the ground dealing with the letter his abusive father left him after years of no contact. When they first saw each other, they were scared but Emma quickly realized that Rev was spiraling and needed help. Rev immediately felt drawn to Emma as he was able to open up to her even though he’s never met her before. Emma was able to help him calm down and help him get clarity in the situation. However, they leave and quickly realize that they did not exchange numbers.
It felt like fate had brought them together when they ran into each other again in front of the church where they first met. Emma and Rev finally exchanged numbers and they continue to open up, sharing their issues and past traumas they have had which allows their bond to grow.
Weeks go by and Rev and Emma have confessed their romantic feelings for each other. They have grown even closer and shared everything with each other. Both Emma and Rev have faced so many obstacles and helped each other, that they lean on each other to talk about topics that they don’t want to talk about with anyone else which also lead to them falling in love. Their love has some challenges and ups and downs but in the end they were in love and stronger together.
