Imagine losing your parents in a car accident and having to go to an orphanage, already having a hard time when you find out you already have someone hating you. 

Nica and Rigel are the two main protagonists of the show, who have both been in the orphanage since kids. Rigel was given away as a baby, so he never met his parents and Nica`s parents died in a car crash when she was young. Rigel was always mean to Nica but she never knew why. The show shows a montage of both Nica and Rigel Nica during their childhood in the orphanage until it flashes forward to them being teenagers and leaving the orphanage after they got adopted by a lovely couple that has lost their son and was looking for the missing puzzle to their family. The twist is that she is getting adopted with Rigel, her enemy in the orphanage and she doesn’t understand why he agreed to getting adopted when he has always denied other families for years in the past. 

What she doesn’t know is that Rigel has been in love with her since the day she first arrived in the orphanage and he doesn’t want her to know and that’s why he is always rude to her to push her away. He feels he is not good enough for her and doesnt want her to deal with all the baggage he has because of his medical condition. 

The transition of living in the orphanage to now living with loving parents and her enemy, leaves Nica shaken up. She often gets flashbacks of her time in the orphanage when the headmaster Margaret would punish her in the dark room anytime she misbehaved. There was always someone holding her hand which she always thought was her best friend Anna but in reality it was Rigel but she just did not see. 

School starts and Rigel has already gotten in trouble for getting into a fist fight with a guy that was talking bad about Nica. Nica did not know that he was defending her, because even though he acts like he hates her to her face, in reality he’s in love with her and pushes her away because he feels he’s not good enough for her. 

After the movie continues with the same plot things switch up and Rigel starts to show his feelings for Nica, and Nica shows her feelings back. Now that they both established their feelings and have been like a couple the only problem is their new adopted parents. They are worried they wouldn’t go through the adoption process if they learned of their relationship. 

Bigger problems arise when Nica`s crush Lionel finds out about her relationship with Rigel and gets so mad that after a party he tried to run over Rigel and Nica on the bridge causing them to jump off the bridge to avoid getting hit. 

The ending of the movie you will have to watch yourself but be aware justice will be served for Nica and Rigel and they will have a happy ending that they deserve but before the happy ending a lot of distress is shown before we can be relieved. I overall loved this movie and loved how it was in Italian with the actors accents giving it a new twist. You definitely should go watch Tearsmith on Netflix!
