In Bay Terrace, the place everyone knows and loves, a new spot has entered the arena. At first you may not notice this tucked-away nook of a bakery, hidden behind the facade of construction around it – once you turn the corner you are able to see the beautiful view that is Somedays. Located at 212-67 26th Ave, Bayside, NY 11360, this becomes Somedays’ fourth location. Out front there’s a green lawn, aesthetically pleasing and an awesome spot on a warm day to hang out with friends, maybe while eating some treats. Now this place doesn’t have the same vibe or appeal of a bigger bakery, with whole cakes and an extensive menu, but that’s what makes it special. The smaller batches allow more care and attention while also making it feel like everything made was specifically for you.
Quality over quantity is the name of the game here. Just six cookies per type and only one Black Sesame Tahini Croissant come out of the oven at a time. It keeps waste low and freshness high. And of course, once they run out they put more in the oven. They can even warm up any pastry you want to go along with your possible latte or beverage.

Joe Vaccaro owns this location of Somedays in Queens. He enjoys the day-to-day, seeing people come in to get their morning started with a coffee or one of their sandwiches or with their kids after a sport, and especially people picking things up for the special moments in life. But essentially every moment in life is special, so getting a sweet treat from your new local bakery isn’t a bad idea.
But is the hype real? Should y’all be spending five bucks on a cookie, or should you go to their sister store Chip City or maybe just go home? Let’s find out!
So of course I had to start with their viral one-of-a-kind croissant…

Black Sesame Tahini Croissant: Crispy, butter flaky. This is how I would describe a regular croissant and while this croissant also possesses all of those qualities it’s much more extraordinary. At first glance I understood the sesame but I wasn’t really sure where the tahini came in. The silky smooth rich nutty flavor explodes in your mouth. You are getting multiple flavors at once, but it works. The crunch from the bitter black sesame brittle and the sweet warm flaky notes from the croissant meld together with the tahini giving you a really unique bite. Definitely worth the try if you’re looking for something new and not too sweet.

Chocolate Chip Cookie: Browned butter. Dark and milk chocolate. Flaky sea salt on top. Crunchy edges. Priced at $4.95, it’s still chewy hours after baking and transport. Doesn’t need to be warm to be delicious and it’s definitely something special.
Vanilla Soft Serve: Perfect middle-ground of sweet and tart. Reminds me a bit of just regular original flavored fro-yo but it’s more creamy and less icy. It has a luscious texture and is very smooth, but if you’re not a fan of milk or milky things this isn’t the best ice cream for you.

Pistachio White Chocolate Chip Cookie: Bright green color reminiscent of the Grinch, sprinkled with crushed pistachios on the top. There’s a crunchy exterior and crust, and a nice soft center. It’s sweet but has an earthy nutty profile – The pistachio flavor is really pungent. The white chocolate chips meld everything together, making sure there’s a smooth transition in your mouth from savory/nutty to sweet.
Cinnamon Bun: Caramelized bottom, cream cheese frosting on the top. If you’re expecting Cinnabon – don’t, but that’s not a bad thing. It’s light & feathery like their croissant with their butter, cinnamon, and sugar really soaking into every fold. The caramel bottom really absorbs, adding that extra element of a sticky sweet component. Definitely something to try, and remember – everything is better warm.
While I only tried their sweet options, they have some savory in addition to their various spins on egg sandwiches. They offer things like baked chicken and smoked salmon, eventually working on rolling out things like BBQ brisket sandwich. But it makes you wonder if the breads that they’re on are also home made. If you guessed yes you’d be right and they don’t just make the croissants they make the brioche buns and literally everything in the store. They don’t import any of their menu items. They pride themselves with quality using no seed oils, taking time to brown New Zealand butter and to use high quality Caramelia chocolate. Don’t just take my word for it. With a 4.9 and almost 300 reviews on Google, people are raving about all their treats and being especially excited to try their croissants.
One last thing worth knowing: Somedays usually runs with just one person behind the counter, but they are impressively efficient. If the line gets long or they just ran out of cookies, give them some grace. Wait ten minutes and you will get an extremely warm, fresh cookie straight from the oven. That is the beauty of a small-batch bakery
Somedays definitely gets the Keira stamp of approval. I have and would come back. I highly recommend the chocolate chip cookie if you’re unsure on what to get because it’s a sure bet.
