“Someone, a Hispanic figure that I look up to is Alex Rodriguez cause he’s a Dominican athlete, so he is someone that represents me as a Dominican baseball player and I can connect to him on so many different levels.” -Diego Olivo, Junior

“Salma Hayek, because with all of her endeavors and everything she’s pursued, she’s inspired so many young women out there to become exactly as successful as her and I know that she didn’t grow up in the best of circumstances so if she can overcome that, anybody can.” -Alexandra Aronov, Senior

“I look up to Selena because seeing the way she grew up and seeing how she preserved through all the challenges in her life, she conquered those challenges and she made a name for herself and even though she faced hard times, she preserved, and she’s a role model to all little girls” -Ashley Jainarine, Senior

“Honestly I used to look up to the soccer player Messi just because I’ve always taken to soccer and he’s always just that top class soccer player and I’ve always wanted to be like him.” -Darrell Moncada, Senior

“Selena Quintanilla, she was a famous singer, she passed away. But, I feel like she got so far in the Hispanic community that she was even able to perform in the United States. Obviously she was born here but music specifically in the music criteria that she was in, its very hard to put that in the music industry. So for her to come so far along, it’s like a big success for her, and I think that her success would be something I would look up to because she didn’t care how many people judged her or the way she sang or the way she dressed or the way she loved. She just kept doing it and she’d gotten so far. Sadly she passed away though.” -Catherine Herrera, Junior
