Jade Cora-Brea, Sports Editor

A senior at Francis Lewis and editor of Sports news, Jade is the youngest athlete in her family. Interested in the school support toward Francis Lewis sports, she joined the Journalism Academy her sophomore year. She is a brunch enthusiast, Arista member, and a varsity athlete for the softball team. Outside of school, Jade likes to cook, dance, sing, read and write poetry, and going out to try new restaurants. With her family history of multi-sport athletes and the amazing talent of Francis Lewis athletes and coaches, she is able to bring out articles to highlight the sports atmosphere at FLHS.

The hallways are too crowded, the kids are right next to each other, on top of each other in the stairwells between periods, in the classrooms though everyone has their mask on so it’s unlikely that the virus would be transmitted even if the kids are sick. -Ms. Khemlani, Teacher

Our school, especially Dr. Marmor, puts in a lot of effort to keep everyone in the loop, but then I just think sometimes maybe more effort to keep us in the loop would be great. Maybe extend the bell time for transportation from one period to another, because one minute is not enough. Everyone is very crowded in the hallways and a lot of teachers dont let us out before the bell so we are all crowded in the same space and not going anywhere. -Amy Huang, Senior

I wish they had more widespread testing. I don’t love the idea that people only get tested with signed consent, a consent can be withdrawn at any time. I know that people have withdrawn consent because testing has interfered with classes. I think what is going to keep us the most safe is having the best picture of what’s going on in the building and without adequate testing its always going to be a little hard to know for sure. -Dr. Cohen, Teacher

I think it’s somewhat safe even though there are a lot of people. Some people don’t even put a mask on, and its frustrating sometimes. So out of 10, 1 being the least safe I feel at a 5. -Wendy Lin, Senior

I feel like we could deal with less kids in a classroom. I know it might be hard but it definitely would improve the safety because we are squished together, and our desks are definitely not three feet apart. -Zoe Schwartz, Junior

I feel like a lot of people don’t really follow the rules and regulations. I see people in the halls taking off their masks and in the lunchroom they tell you to keep it on and people don’t listen. -Aasiyah Aziz, Junior
